Strategy Under Pressure: The HSS Strategy Workshop

Most conference sessions provide information. This workshop provides an intervention. It is a high-intensity session designed for CEOs who need to move past "Planning Theater" and start making the clinical choices that drive margin.

This peer-group experience is designed for 8–12 senior leaders within the same industry. Using an abbreviated version of the Strategy Arcade, we subject a real-world industry case study to the pressures of market volatility, revealing the "Uncertainty Zones" that traditional strategy retreats often ignore.

The Workshop Journey: From Uncertainty to Insight

We guide the cohort through a compressed version of the Logic of Choice:

  • Step 1: The Strategic Problem: We define the "Problem" not as a list of issues, but as the painful gap between desired outcomes and current results.

  • Step 2: The Cascade & Possibilities: Using a "Test Subject" case study, we map 3–5 imaginative strategic possibilities—distinct paths that could close the performance gap.

  • Step 3: The WWHTBT Filter: We apply the "What Would Have to Be True" logic to these choices. This identifies the high-stakes assumptions that require quantitative proof before they can be treated as facts.

  • Step 4: The Pressure Test (Mini-Arcade): We subject the chosen logic to a simulated disruption—such as a sudden policy shift or an AI-driven cost collapse—to see where the strategy holds and where it breaks.

  • Step 5: The Path to Clarity: We conclude with a "Decision Map," showing the 12-week progression from a draft logic to a board-approved, validated operating system.

The HSS Professional Standard

Facilitating a room of industry peers requires a neutral, high-authority perspective. Mark Haas is a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) with 20 years of experience serving as an Ethics Officer. This tenure ensures the session remains a "Neutral Third Space" where participants can explore hard truths without the friction of competition or internal politics.

The Strategic Toolkit (Your Handoff)

Participants leave with the same clinical tools used in the comprehensive SYSTEM engagements:

  • The Strategy Choice Map (1-page): A tool to visually anchor your core choices.

  • WWHTBT Worksheet: A template to test your own strategic assumptions with evidence.

  • Uncertainty Radar Diagram: A visual model to map market and internal risks.

  • The 5-Minute CEO Clarity Audit: A diagnostic tool to determine if your current strategy is ready for execution or requires an intervention.
