HSS Process: The Clinical Pre-Mortem

This process moves beyond a "brainstorm" and into a Clinical Stress Test of the current operating plan. Try one approach we use to surface unspoken or unconsidered assumptions:

  1. Select the "Winning" Scenario: Take your current #1 strategic priority as defined in SPRINT (Clarity).

  2. The Time-Travel Prompt: "It is two years from today. Our strategy has failed spectacularly. We are bankrupt or being liquidated. What happened?"

  3. The "Logic Leak" Analysis: Identify which of your WWHTBT (What Would Have To Be True) assumptions proved false.

  4. Red-Team the Controls: For every "Logic Leak," identify a specific Signpost that would have alerted you six months earlier.

There are more details of how this works in practice, but this shows you how strong strategy teams prepare for the future.

Clinical Inquiry: The Strategy Arcade

  • The Strategy Arcade is a selection of high-impact tools—including the Business Model Canvas and Strategy Maturity Matrix—that have been battle-tested in mid-market environments. Each resource is chosen for its ability to turn complex strategic theories into actionable executive workflows.

  • While many of the tools can be used for internal brainstorming, they are most effective when integrated into a facilitated engagement. This ensures that the outputs are professionally vetted and aligned with the broader Enterprise Growth strategy.

  • Yes. A core strength of the Arcade is the flexibility of the logic. Whether you are in Defense, Healthcare, Professional Services, or Energy, the underlying principles of strategic choice and governance remain constant, while the application is tailored to your specific market volatility.
